$2 Million Settlement For Fall From Ladder

A cable television installer who was left quadriplegic after sustaining a work-related fall from a ladder accepted $2 million on August 5, 2013 to settle his case in New Jersey District Court.  The worker was performing a job in Fort Lee, NJ on Jan. 4, 2010 when the ladder slipped due to an allegedly worn-out foot pad that caused the ladder to lose contact with the pavement.  The plaintiff, now 32 years-old, was was left paralyzed below the shoulders.  Plaintiff's safety expert testified that the footpad should have been replaced when the ladder was inspected by a company hired by plaintiff's employer to inspect the ladders and make repairs when needed.
