A plaintiff who was injured in two separate automobile rear-end accidents recently settled her Passaic County, NJ personal injury lawsuits for a total of $590,000. Plaintiff was rear-ended twice within an approximate two year period and sued each defendant separately for their negligence. As a result of the accidents, plaintiff sustained neck and back injuries, requiring a discectomy, vertebral fusion and a laminectomy. Liability was not contested in either lawsuit, and a motion to consolidate the cases had been denied. One defendant settled for $100,000, representing the limits of their insurance policy, while the other settled for $490,000 of a $500,000 policy.
