$20.5 Million Settlement in Morris County, NJ Suit Involving Catastrophic Injuries to Minor

A lawsuit in Morris County, New Jersey recently settled for $20.5 million. It was alleged in the case that a 12-year-old boy was rendered a triplegic after being run over by a truck. The boy was riding his bicycle at his grandparents’ house when the truck, driven by his great uncle, backed out of the driveway and hit him. The driver and the owner of the truck, among others, were named defendant in the lawsuit. The owner of the truck had four insurance carriers who contributed roughly $20 million to the settlement. The grandparents’ homeowners insurance contributed roughly $500,000.
