disclaimer

An injured skateboarder was recently awarded $504,000 by a Hudson County jury for injuries sustained to his right hand. The accident happened when plaintiff was riding his skateboard on Summit Avenue in Jersey City and attempted to swerve around a pile of glass in front of a liquor store. The wheel of the skateboard hit a shard of glass causing him to be thrown to the ground. Plaintiff’s right hand landed in the pile of glass, causing injuries that required two surgeries. Plaintiff continues to experience pain and tingling in the hand after the surgeries. During fact discovery, it was revealed that the pile of glass had been on the sidewalk in front of the liquor store for two days before the accident. Because the jury found plaintiff himself 10% liable for the accident, plaintiff's total recovery in the case will be $453,600.
