Jury Awards $4.25 Million to Plaintiff in Newark, New Jersey Multi-Vehicle Automobile Accident Lawsuit

A plaintiff who was injured by multiple automobiles during a single accident was recently awarded $4.25 million by an Essex County jury. The accident occurred at the intersection of West Runyon and Bergen streets in Newark. Plaintiff was first injured when the car she was in was rear ended at a red light. Then, upon exiting the vehicle, a second car hit the first offending vehicle, causing a blunt force trauma to plaintiff’s knee. Plaintiff sustained a displaced tibial fracture and meniscal tear, among other injuries, requiring open reduction and fixation surgery and repair of the meniscus. Plaintiff, now 60, was unable to return to her job as a gym teacher and currently walks with the assistance of a cane.
