Motorcyclist Awarded $19.3 Million In Sussex County, NJ Personal Injury Lawsuit

A Sussex County jury recently awarded an injured motorcyclist and his wife $19.3 million in their lawsuit for personal injuries. The subject accident occurred when the plaintiff was riding his motorcycle and was hit from behind while stopped at a red light. The impact from the motor vehicle caused plaintiff’s motorcycle to fall on him. Injuries included spinal disc herniations, bulging and other disruption. Plaintiff also tore his rotator cuff, and now suffers chronic pain in his back, neck and arm. The jury verdict was broken down as follows: the jury awarded plaintiff $15.5 million for his pain and suffering and $3.8 million to his wife on her claim for loss of consortium. Significant trial testimony came from plaintiff himself, who explained how the injuries have adversely affected his ability to interact with his family, which consists of his wife, three biological children and five adopted children.
